CRYOTHERAPY

  • What Are the Benefits of Cryotherapy?

Users of cryotherapy have the potential to gain a variety of benefits from this service.

Cryotherapy can temporarily numb pain, reduce swelling and inflammation, relax tense muscles, boost blood circulation, and provide a mood lift. It can also have a positive impact on the injury recovery process.

While these benefits are temporary, they can be achieved quickly. What’s more, those who engage in cryotherapy regularly can benefit from more consistent, longer-lastingresults.

  • Who is Cryotherapy Best Suited For?

Cryotherapy is a popular wellness service among athletes, fitness-focused individuals, and those dealing with a recent injury like tendonitis or recurring back pain. Self-care enthusiasts and lovers of all things wellness also tend to gravitate towards this wellness service.

  • What Are the Different Types of Cryotherapies?

We have two different types of cryotherapies at our wellness clinic: localized cryotherapy and whole-body cryotherapy. Theseoptions slightly differ in terms of execution and purpose. Picking the right type is crucial to achieve the most applicable results.

  • Localized Cryotherapy: Freezing cold air is applied to one part of the body for roughly 5 to 10 minutes per session. Ideal forconfined injuries like an ankle sprain, knee inflammation, or shoulder impingement.
  • Whole-Body Cryotherapy: The user enters an enclosed cold air chamber for about 2 to 4 minutes per session. Used as a more systematic form of recovery than its localized counterpart, typically for widespread inflammation, athletic recovery, or general wellness.
  • Is Cryotherapy Safe?

Yes, in most cases, cryotherapy (both localized and whole body) is considered safe. However, just like conventional types of treatments, there are potential risks and precautions to consider with any type of wellness service.

Rare risks of cryotherapy may include skin irritation, lightheadedness, and temporary numbness or tingling. Those with nerve disorders, severe hypertension, cardiovascular disease, or Raynaud’s disease are typically recommended to avoid this service. Those under the age of 18 or who are pregnant may also not be well-suited for this service.

If you’re unsure if cryotherapy is right for you, speaking with a doctor first is advised. While a medical note or referral is not required by our facility to engage in our wellness services, getting an okay first from your doctor is suggested.
