Red Light Therapy
Serving the Greater Riverside County Area including Corona, Riverside, Norco & Jurupa Valley, CA
While red light therapy (RLT) has been around since the late 1890s, this recovery service is currently trending in the world of all-natural approaches to wellness. It involves exposure to low-level red and near-infrared light, which, in a wellness clinic setting like ours, is generally done by sitting near or lying under special LED panels.
Red Light Therapy
- How is Red Light Therapy Beneficial?
Red light therapy has the capacity to aid muscle recovery, support joint and tendon pain, reduce inflammation, increase energy and reduce fatigue, provide a mood boost, and foster a healthier skin complexion.
People often turn to red light therapy as a means of post-workout recovery, improved skin appearance, or general wellness optimization.
- What Does Red Light Therapy Feel Like?
Unlike UV light, red light therapy doesn’t feel hot, painful, or burn the skin during a session. Rather, guests often describe a red light therapy session as non-sensory, not noticing any sensation coming from the light at all.
This brief session can also be considered relaxing.A red light therapy session typically lasts no more than 30 minutes at a time, giving the guest time to unwind without requiring too much time commitment.
- Is Red Light Therapy Safe?
Red light therapy is considered a non-invasive wellness service with minimal potential risks. Possible short-term risks, while rare, may include eye discomfort, mild skin irritation orsensitivity, or temporary fatigue. No long-term risks are known at this time.
Risks are most common in situations involving red light overexposure, the use of poor-quality red light therapy equipment, or a lack of proper eye protection during a session – which are more likely to occur when conducting at-home red light therapy or receiving sessions from a wellness facility operating below industry standards.
At Recovery Lab, we keep risks minimal for our guests thanks to commercial-grade red light therapy equipment, well-trained staff with high regard for guest safety, and carefully controlled sessions.
- Does Red Light Therapy Have Side Effects?
Most individuals who have tried red light therapy don’t typically notice side effects or unusual reactions to this wellness service. However, possible side effects may involve a slight headache or short-term eye fatigue, lightly red and/or warm skin, or slight exhaustion after the session.
Photosensitivity reactions are most common in individuals with underlying light-sensitivity-causing conditions or those taking medications which may make them more photosensitive.
Nonetheless, side effects, if any, are generally mild and temporary. They’re also easily preventable in most cases, especially when receiving red light therapy in a controlled, safe environment.
