What It Feels Like
The first area you’re likely to have an expectation is the area of what it will feel like when you have this therapy done on you.
A percussion gun both vibrates and jabs you, making it, in some ways, feel similar to one of those massage chairs with the stiffer parts that move around to really press into your muscles.
The jobbing motion can be a bit intense, more like a tiny jackhammer, and this does cause a bit of an ache, especially when it’s being used on tight or knotted muscles. However, at the end, your muscles should feel much better.
What You Can Expect From It
If used properly, it should get rid of all the knots you have in your muscles where you have percussion therapy done. It should also loosen up tight or stiff muscles to relieve some of the tension.
This also will reduce the stiffness following the day after an extra tough workout. How it does this is by getting your blood to flow more to the area the percussion gun is used on, helping the muscles there to detox from any buildup from your workout, which is largely what causes the stiffness in the first place.
What Percussion Therapy Can’t Do
Aside from what it can do comes knowing what it can’t do.
Though it does help with blood flow, and things like injuries benefit from increased blook flow, percussion therapy can’t be used to help things like arthritis or injuries. The movement and jostling of your cells will stand a greater chance of making these hurt more rather than helping reduce the pain.
It also can’t be used on any areas that have little to no padding around the bone.

They may have you sit a certain way to have easy access to the area they’re working on, but they should still ensure you remain comfortable.
