What is Cryotherapy?

Serving the Greater Los Angeles County Area including La Verne, Claremont, Glendora, San Dimas, CA

We have many services at Recovery Lab of La Verne, but the one we’re telling you about here is our cryotherapy option.

You’ve probably been hearing about cryotherapy due to its increasing popularity. In case you have no idea what this is, cryotherapy is essentially putting your body in a super cold space for a short period of time.

Think of it a little like taking those ice baths you’ve doubtless heard people mention. However, with cryotherapy, there is no water, no ice, and you don’t get wet.

CRYOTHERAPY

  • What Are The Benefits Of Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is used in many medical fields, with studies being done on them still today to uncover all of its advantages. Even so, there are some proven benefits that are commonly recognized, including:

  • Reduced Inflammation
  • Enhanced Metabolism
  • Diminished Soreness & Pain
  • Shorter Recovery Time
  • More Quality Sleep
  • Better Collagen Production

Of course, those are only the main ones, but some people get even more benefits from it, such as noticing they get sick less often when having cryotherapy sessions regularly. Who knows how many more benefits researchers will discover about cryotherapy?

  • Who Is Cryotherapy Suitable For?

Cryotherapy is suitable for just about everyone. When it comes to who will get the most use from it, though, we at Recovery Lab know this is people who happen to need one of its benefits.

For example, if you want to workout but you just get so sore after exercising that it’s hard to make yourself keep up your planned routine, cryotherapy is a great solution, as it will help you ache less and will encourage your body to release things like your natural pain killers and endorphins.

So, if you’re battling with some type of inflammation, are having a hard time sleeping well, or are struggling with some other thing from the list of its benefits, we hope you’ll consider using cryotherapy.

  • What is Cryotherapy Like?

It is, obviously, very cold! By cold, we mean our cryotherapy chambers get down to -200°F to -250°F!

Now, normally, it would be dangerous to be exposed to a cold this extreme. However, this is a dry type of cold, which doesn’t feel as bad, and it’s only for a very short amount of time.

So, while you should feel tingly and a bit chilled, maybe even uncomfortably so, it shouldn’t hurt you at all. The reason why it needs to get this cold is to trigger your body’s “fight or flight” mode, which is what leads to the many benefits you get from this therapy.
