  • What are Common Acne Triggers?

Acne can have multiple triggers. Hormone imbalances or fluctuations, genetics, stress, a poor diet, and a substandard skincare routine can all increase the odds of an acne breakout.

Other potential acne triggers include excess oil production, taking certain medications, frequent makeup wearing, and the use of pore-clogging skincare products.

While acne isn’t always avoidable, maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, washing your face daily, and regulating stress can help reduce the frequency and severity of your acne.

  • Can Wellness Services Reduce Acne?

Yes, certain wellness services have the capability of improving acne, including:

  • Red Light Therapy: Exposure to certain wavelengths. Reduces inflammation, stimulates collagen for the repair of tissues, and may help regulate the skin’s oil production
  • Cryotherapy: Short-term exposure to extremely cold air. Can provide short-term improvement of inflammation and redness, improve oil production, and kill excess bacteria on the skin’s surface
  • Are Wellness Services Safe for Teens?

Yes, many wellness services are considered safe for most teenagers. However, it depends on the service.

For instance, red light therapy in moderation and within a professional setting is considered low risk for teens. When it comes to services like cryotherapy, however, there’s not yet enough research to prove it’s safe for healthy teens.

When in doubt, speak with child’s physician before booking them a wellness service.

  • Can I Combine Skincare Treatments and Wellness Services?

In most cases, combining skincare treatment with wellness service is safe and even recommended. One is not necessarily a replacement for the other. Rather, they can complement one another, working differently for the same desired outcome.

For example, red light therapy is commonly paired with collagen induction facials, microneedling, or IPL treatments. Common pairings with cryotherapy, on the other hand, can include chemical peels, sculpting facials, or vampire facials.

Multiple wellness services, too, can be combined. Our team here at Recovery Lab can help you come up with an ideal weekly wellness routine fit for your needs, budget, and availability.

  • How Often Should I Book My Appointments?

Appointment frequency of wellness services for acne will depend on multiple factors. The level of severity of your acne, the cause of your acne, your budget, and the service(s) you select can impact how often you’ll need to book.

For red light therapy, we suggest going a few times a week for the first month or so. As your skin shows improvements, you may reduce appointments to once a week or every two weeks for maintenance.

To aid with acne inflammation and redness, consider attending a cryotherapy session once or twice a week, particularly when dealing with a current flareup.
