Serving the Greater San Bernardino County Area including Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Fontana, Upland, CA

A concussion isn’t just a light bump to the head. This traumatic force injury can have an effect on how the brain functions. Whether it comes from a sports-related impact or a blow to the head during a car accident, concussion symptoms can range from memory loss and confusion to headaches and dizziness.

While wellness services like cryotherapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy are not an alternative for medical attention, these services can help complement the body’s natural path to recovery. These services have the potential to lessen symptoms and enhance the overall recovery process.

  • How Do Wellness Services Support Concussion Recovery?

Wellness services are not a replacement for medical advice or treatment. Rather, they are a support tool to assist with the recovery process.

Our wellness services can help support concussion recovery by reducing inflammation, increasing blood circulation, and stimulating cellular repair. Think of our services as a guide for the body’s innate healing mechanisms.

  • Which Wellness Services Are Safe After a Concussion?

While each of our wellness services are non-invasive and minimally risky – and don’t require a referral – it’s always important to speak with a doctor before opting for one of our services. They can help guide your decision in choosing an option considered safe in your particular situation.

Once you receive reassurance from a medical professional, you might consider one of multiple of the following wellness service options:

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Cryotherapy
  • Red light therapy
  • What Happens During a Post-Concussion Wellness Session?

Post-concussion wellness sessions should be gentle and soothing. However, your experience will depend on the type of service you select.

Regardless of the service you pick, your wellness service at Recovery Lab will begin with some questions. Learning more about your situation and what you want out of your service will allow us to best tailor your session to you.

After an initial conversation, we’ll move into the session itself. We emphasize providing a safe, comfortable environment for our clients. Once the session is over, we’ll guide a quick cooldown, allowing you time to rest. We’ll also share some post-session tips to further enhance your recovery.

  • How Do I Know if I’m Ready for Recovery Support?

There’s no particular guideline for when you’ll be ready for recovery support after a concussion. Every case is unique.

However, we recommend waiting until you’ve received medical clearance. Your acute symptoms – like dizziness, nausea, and light sensitivity – should also be stabilized before considering a wellness recovery session.

  • Can I Combine Other Therapies with Your Services?

Yes, you can absolutely combine multiple wellness services together – or even engage in a wellness service alongside another type of post-concussion treatment.

For example, one might combine vestibular therapy with red light therapy or aquatic therapy with cryotherapy. One might even consider combining wellness services like hyperbaric oxygen therapy and red light therapy.

Regardless, we still strongly recommend asking your doctor before booking a wellness service. We also suggest introducing a wellness service gradually into your routine to allow your body to safely adapt. Safety and timing are crucial.
