What is Cryotherapy?
Serving the Greater San Bernardino County Area including Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Fontana, Upland, CA
The whole body cryotherapy (WBC) we use at Recovery Lab of Rancho Cucamonga is supposed to trigger your body’s “fight or flight” mode.
This is to make endorphins and adrenaline, among other things, in your body. These do so much for you, including being natural painkillers!
Because of this, you will ache less after one of your tough workouts, which helps you recover much faster, accomplishing one of our main goals at Recovery Lab: We want to make whatever fitness goal you have as pain-free as possible for you!
CRYOTHERAPY

- What are the Benefits of Cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy has far too many benefits to go into them all in detail. The main benefits of getting a cryotherapy treatment are:
- Accelerated Recovery Time
- Enhanced Immune Function
- Reduced Inflammation
- Boosted Metabolism
- Improved Sleep
- Decreased Pain & Soreness
- Stimulated Collagen
With all of these advantages from cryotherapy, you can see why we are so pleased to offer it at Recovery Lab!
- Is Cryotherapy Cold?
Of course this type of therapy is cold! “Cryo” literally means “cold.”
During cryotherapy at Recovery Lab, your body will be surrounded in one of our chambers by cold air that is all the way down to -200°F to -250°F!
However, cryotherapy uses a dry cold. So, while you may get uncomfortably cold, it should never be painful for you.
It’s perfectly normal for your skin to get a sort of tingly feeling while you are in our chamber for your cryotherapy treatment, but this should stop at the end of your session when you step out of the cryo chamber, and you should soon feel back to normal.
- Is Cryotherapy Dangerous?
If you were doing cryotherapy by yourself and were not paying attention to the time, it could be dangerous. However, this is why Recovery Labs has a recovery specialist nearby for your entire session.
More than this, our recovery specialist will walk you through each step and monitor your safety. Without these precautions, your skin could be damaged due to the cold.
We encourage you to speak in depth with your Recovery Specialist about the many safety measures we take!
- How Long Does Cryotherapy Take?
Not long at all! The cryotherapy session itself only takes around 3 minutes.
You will want to ensure you allot more time than those 3 minutes, though, as you will need time to make sure you are dry, change clothes, etc., before and after the session.
- What Is a Cryotherapy Session Like?
Our cryotherapy sessions are done in upright chambers slightly resembling upright tanning beds. Before you go inside one of these, our Recovery Specialist will ensure you are completely dry and are wearing the gloves, socks, and slippers we provide to protect your hands and feet.
After you are inside the cryotherapy chamber, the Recovery Specialist will make any necessary adjustments for your comfort, including raising or lowering the front so your head pokes out the top.
You will stand there for your session, and then you exit and get back into your regular clothes. That’s it!
