- How Does Hyperbaric Therapy Help Fitness?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy’s main purpose is to get more oxygen into you. The greater pressure and oxygen surrounding you in the hypobaric chamber help your lungs achieve this.
More oxygen gives you better circulation. We at Recovery Lab know your muscles desperately need blood circulation after tough workouts, since using your muscles causes certain toxins to build up in them; these toxins are a large part of what causes you to be so sore the day after your workout.
Therefore, increased oxygen means you recover with as little soreness as possible. And this is just the main way hyperbaric therapy is offered at Recovery Lab to help you get fit.
- Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric therapy is immensely useful, and many a medical doctor prescribes it for things like:
- Post-Surgery Recovery
- Faster Healing
- Reduced Infections
All of these things are also helpful for fitness, especially if you are trying to get fit after having a serious injury or operation. At Recovery Lab, we want you to be able to get fit and stay fit, regardless of any roadblocks like this you have.
- What is Hyperbaric Therapy Like?
When having hyperbaric oxygen therapy, merely lie down in a special chamber and breathe normally. Simple!
Meanwhile, our Recovery Specialist, who will have helped you into the chamber, will monitor you during your session. Ask your specialist questions at any time during this!
You’ll probably feel pressure in your ears during this, just like when you’re in an airplane taking off. Swallowing or deliberately yawning is often all you’ll need to do to relieve this slight pressure.
- Preparing For Hyperbaric Therapy
Preparations for your first therapy session are simple.
To start, a Recovery Specialist will discuss your situation with you. This talk is to ensure pragmatic expectations and to confirm you’re informed about the process. For example, if you’re recuperating from an injury or surgery, you should know you’ll need more than one therapy session before you get perceptible results.
When getting ready to step into the hyperbaric chamber, our Recovery Specialist will have you remove anything capable of putting out heat, as these things aren’t allowed in the chamber.
- Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Safe?
You’ll discuss safety with a Recovery Specialist before a single session takes place, but you can rest assured that it’s safe for almost everyone.
That said, if you currently have an ear infection or have recently had a collapsed lung or anything like those problems, then we will recommend a different therapy for you.
