Migraines
Serving the Greater San Bernardino County Area including Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Fontana, Upland, CA
Migraines make every little sound, sight, and movement complete misery. When you’re feeling rough from a migraine, getting up and enthusiastically exercising and eating healthy food is practically impossible.
This being the case, we at Recovery Lab of Rancho Cucamonga want to help you get rid of, or at least reduce, any migraines you tend to have. So, let’s go over a bit about what causes migraines before we tell you a little about what can be done for them.
Migraines
- Causes Of Migraines
You probably already know drinking alcohol will lead to a nasty migraine, as will having too much caffeine, lengthy exposure to overly strong smells or sounds, and, in short, anything that could be called excessive.
When an abrupt weather change leads to an equally sudden change in the air pressure, people tend to get migraines from it. People also get migraines from stress, missing sleep, and skipping meals, and women have it even rougher due to being overall prone to migraines from any imbalances or changes in hormones.
As a final note, migraines are also caused by serious things, such as brain tumors and other medical conditions. Therefore, it’s incredibly important to have your doctor look and see what’s going on if you’re having migraines often or severe ones.
- Can Working Out Cause Migraines?
Though not very common, exercise is capable of bringing on a migraine.
However, it’s important to note this tends to happen as more of a side effect of overheating yourself by working out while you’re too hot, getting way too dehydrated while exercising, or doing a lot of repetitive motions requiring your head and neck to move, causing strain.
In short, don’t torture yourself with exercise or do too many repetitions of a new routine and you shouldn’t be getting migraines from working out.
- Things You Can Do For Migraines
Despite what you know you might think, you’re not powerless when you have a migraine! To help prevent migraines, here are a few things we advise you to try:
- Destress
- Stay Hydrated
- Watch Your Diet
- Get Plenty Of Sleep
- Take Care Of Your Health
Also, if you get migraines regularly, you should keep a diary with everything you eat, do, etc., to see if there are any specific things you can avoid that might be contributing to your migraines.
As for what you can do if you already have a migraine, take something for the pain, try to avoid tensing up, place a cool cloth over your eyes, and go to a dark room if you can.
- Ways Recovery Lab Can Help Migraines
While not all the services we offer are suited for helping reduce migraines, Recovery Lab still has many options.
Our cryotherapy and red light therapy, for example, help your circulation and overall health, which can shorten and decrease your migraines. Though our percussion therapy and rock blading might not help your head directly, they are able to help indirectly as they assist you in relaxing, so your muscles don’t tense up and cause you pain that way.
