Mobility Stretching
Serving the Greater San Bernardino County Area including Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Fontana, Upland, CA
We at Recovery Lab of Rancho Cucamonga use Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching at our locations. This type of stretching helps you have more mobility in ways regular stretching just doesn’t do.
Our Recovery Specialists are trained to know how to walk you through PNF stretching at Recovery Lab to help you be more mobile and flexible in ways specifically meant to help you in your fitness goals.
Mobility Stretching

- How is PNF Stretching Different from Regular Stretching?
PNF is far more advanced than regular stretching. Whereas regular stretching tends to focus more on warming up your muscles, PNF targets specific groups of muscles to release the tension in them and increase their flexibility and range of motion.
More than that, PNF mobility stretching at Recovery Lab will also help your fascia. Your fascia is the rarely-mentioned connective tissue around your muscles.
When your fascia is tight, you’ll experience pain and reduced movement. Unfortunately, fascia gets tight for almost any reason, including nothing more than everyday repetitive movements. This is why our Recovery Specialists know to help you stretch your fascia and not just your muscles.
- The Benefits of Stretching
While you’re probably thinking greater mobility is the main benefit of stretching, the best thing about having more mobility is actually it helping you have fewer injuries!
Tight muscles will tear more often. This is a fact. You might not be aware of tiny tears other than feeling your muscles persistently aching, but we know these tears will make your recovery take longer.
Meanwhile, larger muscle tears cause a significant amount of pain, and these will require time to heal before you can have another hard workout.
In short, anyone with muscles that are stiff, tight, or are just plain lacking when it comes to their range of motion will benefit from mobility stretching.
- What To Expect When Stretching
It’s always important to keep your goals feasible. Simply put, you won’t get amazingly more mobile after just one session with our Recovery Specialist!
Expect to take weeks to months to reach whatever level of mobility your goal is. Even after you reach your goal, you’ll need to keep doing regular sessions to avoid backtracking.
- What Will the Stretching Session Be Like?
Our Recovery Specialists work with people of all sorts, from grandparents to professional athletes, so they will help you through your stretching from beginning to end.
To start, they’ll talk about your goals and go over what you’ll be doing. Then, they’ll help you with the various stretches as needed.
Afterward, you should feel relaxed, if a little sore. You’ll likely stiffen up later on, but this should last no more than 3 days and, after this soreness goes away, you should still notice a slight improvement in your mobility.
- What Should I Wear?
You’ll need to wear clothing you can move around in without it bunching up or getting tight anywhere. In general, fitness apparel is usually perfect for this.
Also, long hair will need to be tied out of the way, and jewelry will need to be removed so that nothing gets caught by clothing or in the way as you stretch.
