Recovery After Is Just As Important As Exercising
What exercises you do and how long you work out are two key things to a good exercise regimen. However, at Recovery Lab of Rancho Cucamonga, we know that your post-workout recovery habits are equally as important as those two things.
Why is this so important, and how do we help? Read on to find out!
Back Pain
- What A Workout Does In Your Body?
As your muscles are used, they burn calories and other nutrients. This creates waste. Now, while your body removes this waste from your muscles, it finds it hard to do so if there is a lot of this waste, such as when you’ve had a longer or more intense workout.
As this waste isn’t meant to stay in your muscles, it causes irritation and tenderness if it isn’t removed quickly enough, hence why your muscles are often so sore after exercising.
- Why Your Body Needs To Recover?
While it’s obvious you need to recover if you’ve strained, pulled, or injured anything, you also need to recoup if you’re uninjured, as there’s still the waste in your muscles from their use.
Even if there aren’t any injuries you know about, there’s still the chance of microtears in your muscles that you aren’t aware of.
Not giving your body a break after this causes these things to get worse. Furthermore, your body just isn’t able to devote what it needs to get rid of the waste, resulting in it staying longer in your muscles.
As you might imagine, your muscles don’t appreciate this, and you’ll see swelling, redness, and increased soreness the longer it takes your body to work these out and detox your muscles.
In short, your body needs recovery after exercising if you want to avoid feeling miserable.
- Ways You Can Hasten Your Recovery
The first way to ensure you recover quickly is to let yourself rest. By making sure your body has nothing else to do, it’s able to focus on your recovery.
Next, there is giving yourself what you need to recover. Plenty of fluids are needed, after all, to filter the waste from your system, and nutrients are required to allow repairs to be made.
Most other things fall into the last way you should help yourself in this area: things to increase your circulation or your cell’s efficiency. For example, even something as simple as massaging the muscles you’ve used encourages the blood to go to the area, which quickens the process of clearing the waste away.
