Causes Of Back Pain
Pain is a red flag of something being wrong, and with practically all of your important nerves going through your back, back pain is unfortunately quite common.
To start, there are direct injuries to your spine from falls, car accidents, etc. You also might need surgery on or near your spine for any of those injuries, and these take a long time to heal.
Then, there are also conditions like fibromyalgia and other rheumatologic diseases and spinal conditions, all of which cause chronic back pain. These are sometimes lifelong conditions and require constant treatment.
Those are on top of mild muscle strains affecting your back for short times until you heal.
How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Helps
As you doubtless know by now, the main thing hyperbaric oxygen therapy does is increase the oxygen your blood has in it. This, in turn, has a long list of indirect advantages, many of which are greatly helpful to your back, so let’s look at those.
Promoted Healing
Oxygen is necessary for your blood to move around other things, including nutrients, and it increases your circulation. As nutrients are used by your cells to heal, when these are more readily available, it helps them heal faster.
As a side note, quicker healing also means there’s less of a chance for infection. Additionally, it also means better healing since, the faster an injury heals, the more likely it’ll be able to heal together properly without scar tissue forming in the way.
For your back, which has all sorts of important things in it, all of the above is particularly important. After all, you don’t want any scar tissue to get in the way of your nerves, as that will bring you lots of pain.
Reduced Pain
Inflammation and pain go hand in hand. Inflammation makes your tissues swell, which then puts more pressure on your nerves, causing nerve pain, which goes back around to cause more inflammation. It’s an awful merry-go-round, but one that hyperbaric oxygen therapy can help you get off of.
Enhanced Effectiveness
Simply put, by helping your circulation, hyperbaric treatments also help your medication work with a little more effectiveness. As any medications your physician has you taking will obviously be meant to help your back pain directly or indirectly, this means hyperbaric treatments help your back.
